Turn the numbers off. Keep the record.

Some couples want the numbers. Some want them for a while and then stop. Some never want them and want the record anyway — the noticing without the arithmetic.

A product this shape has to be able to put its own scoring away without the record going with it, and without that being an exit.

What goes away

• Weekly totals.
• The weekly index.
• The balance — the gap between the two of you.
• Per-contribution scores wherever they are displayed.
• The weekly inventory, the two guessing questions, because a couple who put the numbers away asked not to be compared.

What stays

• Everything you logged, and everything you confirmed.
• The weekly review, and the thanks in your inbox.
• Every score receipt. Yes, still — see below.
• The settings change log.

Why the receipt survives

This is the distinction the whole feature turns on: quiet mode hides comparison, not explanation.

A total invites the question “who is ahead”, and that is the question the mode exists to remove. A receipt answers a different question — “where did this number come from” — and hiding the answer to that would leave the product with unexplained arithmetic somewhere in it, which is worse than the arithmetic being visible.

So the receipt has no entitlement attached to it anywhere in the code. There is nothing for a future screen to check.

Either of you can turn it on, and both of you will know

It is a couple setting, so one person can change it alone without a negotiation — and every change is written to a log you both read. That pairing is deliberate: a shared setting one person can change invisibly is a different and much worse object.

It is applied by the server rather than by the app, so it cannot be undone by a screen that forgot to check.

It is not solo mode, and it is not a downgrade

Solo mode is one person keeping the record for two, and it never had scores, because the rating that makes a score more than one person’s opinion needs two people. Quiet mode is a pair putting numbers away and able to take them back out whenever they like.
